Derrick McCandless is currently living in Winnipeg Manitoba.
Derrick, raised in Northern BC, was introduced to guitar and bagpipes at an early age. A picture of a 6 year old Derrick atop an old VW beatle can be found somewhere in the archives but his attire of a cowboy hat, a Roy Rogers cowboy vest and sears guitar strapped to his body, says it all.
Derrick has a mobile 'Tiny Festival Stage' available for parties, weddings and special events. He is can provide the sound equipment, serve as sound technician and play for the event.
Derrick McCandless is a very community minded guy and finds a home where ever he lands. He has made many life long friends in the places he has lived and involves himself in the whole of the community he is surrounded by. A Folk Festival, a new coffee house or a jam, you will find Derrick at the forefront as an organiser or a heavy duty supporter. In Winnipeg, Derrick's Musical Instrument Repair shop is lengendary for developing one of the best jam spaces Winnipeg has known.
Derrick is busy in his home studio, practising and recording and recovering from open heart surgery. Sign up on the mailing list and stay informed about the upcoming "Open Heart Tour" and the new, yet to be named album.
Derrick also enjoys metal fabrication and metal art. Along with his guitar making skills and love for the uillean pipes, Derrick can make or repair your precious instrument (no room for pianos in the shop). Like the 8 ft Bass guitar built for Sight and Sound Music in BC.
Follow the links to Derrick's other sites or contact him through this site if you have a commission in mind or an idea that needs help. Welding, 3D printing and CNC services available.
